In the Top End it’s always dry in July. But ‘Dry July’ takes on an important meaning of alcohol abstinence as well.

Dry July is a nationally run fundraising campaign with many different people, celebrities and organisations get involved in its promotion and awareness drive.

Dry July4Dry July is a not-for-profit organisation determined to improve the lives of adults living with cancer through an online social community and health awareness initiative that encourages people to give up booze for the month of July.

In 2013 Dry July raised over $4.2 million in Australia and helped 31 cancer services improve the lives of adults living with cancer.

Funds raised in the past have contributed to the purchase of new chemotherapy chairs, shade sails in the patient waiting area, and teleconferencing equipment. All of which helps to improve patient comfort during treatment as well as improved communication with rural patients and specialist staff in other cities.
