Welcome to NTRO

Northern Territory Radiation Oncology (NTRO) is based at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre located on the grounds of the Royal Darwin Hospital. We offer a comprehensive range of radiation oncology treatment without the need to travel interstate.

NTRO is equipped with two Elekta Agilty Linacs, Monaco TPS, Mosaiq OIS, and a Toshiba CT. Our treatment techniques include IGRT, IMRT, VMAT, DIBH, SABR and SRS.

Our comprehensive service is well supported by a very experienced team of Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists and Nurses who are motivated in providing exemplary clinical and supportive care. NTRO is fully committed to culturally appropriate practices when engaging with people of diverse race, ethnicity and background.

Our staff works closely with all the cancer disciplines in surgery, chemotherapy, palliative care and allied health to deliver the most appropriate cancer treatment, pathway and care.

NTRO is professionally affiliated with Royal Adelaide Hospital and conducts research and clinical trials to improve cancer outcome in the Northern Territory. NTRO clinical team is participating in the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy – in collaboration with SA Health in a comprehensive cancer collaborative for clinical and transitional research opportunities.

The Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre is named in memory of Dr Alan Walker (1931-2007), a Northern Territory pediatrician credited with improving Aboriginal infant mortality and child health outcomes.
