Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) is a radiation therapy technique that uses x-ray and computed tomography (CT) scans to aid in treatment accuracy. Depending on the type of treatment you’re receiving IGRT will take an image before and sometimes during your treatment every day. This allows the radiation therapists to verify your position and to make slight adjustments to ensure your treatment is being delivered as precisely as possible. IGRT is a beneficial technique and is used for all patients receiving treatment at NTRO.
